Portrait: What makes the GlenAllachie 2014 - The Sinteis Series Part I
The GlenAllachie 2014 - The Sinteis Series Part I is a limited, cask strength bottling with 57.8% vol., created under the direction of whisky icon Billy Walker.
"Sinteis" - pronounced "sin-teesh" and Scottish Gaelic for "synthesis" - perfectly describes the creative idea behind this series: the harmonious combination of two different cask types, each of which brings its characteristic influence to the whisky.
For this edition, carefully selected Virgin Oak Barrels from Chinquapin oak from the Ozarks in Missouri and first-fill Pedro Ximénez sherry puncheons are combined. The rare American chinquapin oak imparts sweet spice and anise notes to the whisky, while the Pedro Ximénez casks contribute dark chocolate and ripe fruit flavors. This composition unfolds in full intensity because the whisky was bottled at cask strength without chill filtration or coloring. The exceptional packaging is by Scottish designer Kayley Barbour. Kayley designed a striking, hand-drawn symbol on the box that visualizes the fusion of the two wood types.
The GlenAllachie Sinteis Part I is a bold, innovative whisky for connoisseurs who appreciate complex cask combinations.
