What makes the Scallywag Noir special?
Following the great success of their award-winning Speyside Malt Scotch Whiskies, Douglas Laing & Co. is proud to present a new, strictly limited bottling: Scallywag Noir. This exclusive edition transports whisky lovers into a world of dark aromas and intense sensory impressions.
Scallywag Noir matured predominantly in fine Pedro Ximénez sherry casks from Jerez, giving it a particularly rich depth. The influence of these casks is evident in a velvety sweetness, accompanied by dark fruits, warm spicy notes, and exceptional complexity.
At its natural cask strength of 52.8% ABV, the whisky is bottled without chill filtration and without the addition of coloring – powerful, authentic, and entirely in the spirit of the Scallywag range.
Visually, the bottling impresses with its high-quality gift packaging with gold embossing and a specially designed label that underscores its refined character. Scallywag Noir is a whisky for connoisseurs seeking something special – profound, aromatic, and with a touch of mystery.
Scott Morrison, Senior Brand Manager, comments: "Scallywag has always stood for full-bodied, sherry-driven enjoyment – and with Noir, we're taking this principle to a new level. Pedro Ximénez casks give the whisky a deep, dark intensity, creating a distillate that is as luxurious as it is complex. Noir is an invitation to venture into the shadows and discover the darker, more powerful side of Scallywag."
Tasting Notes: This is how Scallywag Noir tastes like
- Nose: a seductive symphony of deep, velvety sweetness unfolds on the nose, accompanied by intense aromas of dark fruits such as plums and black berries – warming spices such as cinnamon and clove harmoniously round off the complex aroma profile
- Palate: on the palate, Scallywag Noir is full-bodied and complex - dark chocolate, spicy oak notes, and a rich sherry sweetness are clearly evident - sherry-soaked raisins provide a juicy, almost syrupy depth that blends elegantly with the robust notes
- Finish: the finish is long-lasting, soft, and intense - hints of dark molasses, ripe figs, and black cherries linger on the tongue, giving the whisky a lasting, rich impression
