Portrait: What makes the Jean Fillioux Lot 65-70 Cognac Grande Champagne Journal des Kirsch N. 11 so special
Anyone who opens a single cask from the Journal des Kirsch series will be taken on a journey to France with fluid stories full of excitement, surprise, delight, and variety. For the latest narrative, released in spring 2025, the bottling takes connoisseurs to the picturesque La Pouyade winery—in the "Golden Triangle" of Cognac, the heart of Grande Champagne.
In the midst of this privileged terroir, the Fillioux family has been putting down deep roots for generations. One Fillioux branch operates in the background of the great Cognac world and is responsible for the cuvées of the world market leader Hennessy. Led by Christophe Fillioux, the other branch cultivates a traditional Cognac house with its own vines and a deep respect for origins and craftsmanship.
Christophe is the mastermind behind the Journal des Kirsch N.11. His Jean Fillioux Lot 65-70 matured in French oak barrels for over half a century. The Cognac refines the exceptional elegance and complexity of the Grande Champagne with tropical, creamy characteristics.
Bottled at natural strength and strictly limited to only 162 bottles, this new chapter is a true gem: aromatically deep, historically valuable, round in character, and stylistically clear - a Cognac with soul.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Jean Fillioux Lot 65-70 Cognac Grande Champagne Journal des Kirsch N. 11 tastes like
- Nose: clear and balanced, with intense aromas of ripe white peaches, accompanied by aromas of fine nutmeg, vanilla, and hints of pistachio cream - a fresh and inviting nose with elegant sweetness and subtle spice.
- Palate: the opening is harmonious and complex - creamy, yet not heavy, but carried by a pleasant freshness - fruity notes, especially mango, honeydew melon, and dried berries combine with a fine spice of sandalwood - behind this are mineral nuances of limestone and an earthy undertone that adds structure and depth - above all, a hint of lavender that brings floral lightness.
- Finish: Long and velvety finish with persistent notes of fruit, fine wood and subtle honey - very balanced, clean and with a beautiful aromatic persistence
