Portrait: What makes the Edradour 12 year old St. Laurent Barrique #1 Finish special

Producing whisky in its most original form - that's what Edradour became a legend among Scotch fans years ago. As one of the few distilleries in Scotland, until 2018 it produced its single malt exclusively in the old farm buildings, sometimes using equipment that was more than 100 years old.And these are rarely used in whiskey making anymore. The latter has not changed even after the completed expansion to include Edradour II.

“Scotland’s Little Gem” once again joined forces with a family-run winery from Germany. The strongly limited Single Cask is the result of two experts in their field.

The Singer-Fischer winery is located in Ingelheim in Rhine-Hesse, where the family lives twelve Hectares of red and white grape varieties are grown. The Edradour 12 year old St. Laurent Barrique #1 Finish was aged for 21 months in the St. Laurent barrique Cask from the multi-generation company. The grape variety, which is still rare in Germany, characterizes the red wine with pleasant fruit acidity, rustic notes and the finest tannins. The result was a dry, spicy single malt with aromas of black cherry and a hint of vanilla.
