Grohsartig Weißburgunder & Chardonnay 2023

Profile: The Grohsartig Weißburgunder & Chardonnay 2023 at a glance

  • "Grohsartig" - The name says it all (and a play on words with a hint of meaning)
  • Rheinhessen charm in the bottle - Rooted in its homeland, but anything but provincial
  • Fine lees aging - Four months of patience that you can taste (and feel)
  • Cuvée with character - Weißburgunder meets Chardonnay, and there's an immediate spark
  • Freshness meets finesse - Easy to drink, but not to be underestimated
  • Mineral. Fruity. Grohsartig. - There's really no need to say more

Portrait: What makes the Grohsartig Weißburgunder & Chardonnay 2023 special

When a wine is called "Grohsartig," you know: This is where someone not only has good grapes, but also a sense of humor.
With the Grohsartig Weißburgunder & Chardonnay 2023, the Groh winery from the charming town of Bechtheim in Rheinhessen has bottled a cuvée that shows that great wines don't always need a big drama - sometimes a big name is enough.

The Groh family knows what they're doing – after all, they, like their vines, are deeply rooted in the Rheinhessen soil. More specifically, in limestone and marl-limestone soils that impart not only minerality but also a touch of Rheinhessen flair to the grapes. And let's be honest: when a Chardonnay and a Pinot Blanc snuggle together on the fine lees for four months, it can only end well.

What makes the cuvée so special is its ability to appear both elegant and casual – like a sommelier in a Hawaiian shirt. It doesn't aim to be a flashy prestige wine, but rather an everyday hero with style. A wine that doesn't boast gold medals, but simply says with a wink: "Let's celebrate life – preferably right now."

Whether at a barbecue, on the balcony, or at dinner with friends: Grohsartig lives up to its name. No wonder it's not only a hit for the palate, but also for the eyes. And honestly: Who could resist a wine so charmingly self-deprecating?

In short: Grohsartig. Because it's simply good.

Conclusion: An extremely successful, fresh cuvée with character and charm – uncomplicated, but not banal. A wine that makes you want another glass.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Grohsartig Weißburgunder & Chardonnay 2023 tastes like

  • Nose: The Grohsartig opens with a fresh, invigorating aroma profile. The nose reveals clear aromas of lemon, ripe peach, and a hint of green apple, accompanied by delicate floral aromas. A subtle minerality and a hint of wet limestone point to its origins in the calcareous soils of Bechtheim. Light yeast aromas can be detected in the background – an indication of aging on the fine lees.
  • Palate: On the palate, the cuvée is very harmonious and lively. The freshness of the Weißburgunder meets the soft fullness of the Chardonnay, giving the wine a pleasant balance of lightness and structure. Citrus fruits, especially lemon zest, provide a fresh kick, while peach and yellow stone fruits lend the wine a charming fruitiness. The fine, well-integrated acidity supports the flavor and makes drinking easy.
  • Finish: The finish is medium to long, characterized by a subtle salty minerality and a fresh citrus aftertaste. The structure, matured on the fine lees, gives the wine a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel that lingers on the tongue for a few moments.
