Portrait: What makes the Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #8 Signatory Vintage

The 100 Proof Edition has been closing a gap in the Signatory range since the beginning of 2024. The single malts in the series are 57.1% vol. bottled, the minimum level at which gunpowder soaked in alcohol can be ignited. High percentages meet low prices.

The new price-performance hits of spring 2024 were all made with Oloroso Sherry >pre-filled barrels - the still rare experience as a single malt is the light, floral Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #8, bottled at 11 years old.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Glentauchers 2012 100 Proof Edition #8 Signatory Vintage tastes like

  • Nose: juicy Red and exotic fruits, paired with brown sugar, surround the nose - with a hint of warm honey, followed by sweet grain notes and hints of dried kiwi
  • Palate: strong and full-bodied The malt hits the tongue and brings red and bright, juicy fruits with it, paired with tones of bitter chocolate and floral notes - a tingling of star fruit remains on the tongue
  • Finish: The malt remains wonderfully sweet with ripe fruits - plus notes that are reminiscent of a cappuccino - spicy oak sets in and remains aromatic and dry on the palate
