The 100 Proof Edition has been closing a gap in the Signatory range since the beginning of 2024. The single malts in the series are 57.1%vol. bottled, the minimum level at which gunpowder soaked in alcohol can be ignited. High percentages meet low prices.
The new price-performance hits of spring 2024 were all made with Oloroso Sherry Pre-filled Casks - the Glenrothes 2014 100 Proof Edition #6 is not smoky, despite multiple fires in the distillery's history, but a true liquid fruit basket.
Tasting Notes: This is how the Glenrothes 2014 100 Proof Edition #6 Signatory Vintage tastes like
- Nose: full and strong with aromas of Dates, plums and spices, accompanied by honey sweetness. Light hints of roasted aromas are reminiscent of fresh coffee and dark chocolate
- Palate: sweet, with a slightly tangy acidity in combination with the aromas of the nose - full and heavy on the tongue, with dark notes of honey and dates
- Finish: very nice finish with oak notes, coffee and dark chocolate that leave a great dry mouthfeel
