The 100 Proof Edition has been closing a gap in the Signatory range since the beginning of 2024. The single malts in the series are 57.1%vol. bottled, the minimum level at which gunpowder soaked in alcohol can be ignited. High percentages meet low prices.
The new price-performance hits of spring 2024 were all made with Oloroso Sherry pre-filled Casks - in the case of the expressive Ben Nevis 2015 100 Proof Edition #5 for a total of 8 years.
Tasting Notes: This is what the Ben Nevis 2015 100 Proof Edition #5 Signatory Vintage tastes like
- Nose: dark sherry aromas with blueberries, raspberries and chocolate then spicy oak and a hint of leather
- Palate: now clearly red berries, not so sweet - behind them are raisins, sultanas and cherries - then there are notes of a little cinnamon, a hint of mocha and white pepper
- Finish: medium-long finish with tones of Black Forest cake, various herbs and a hint of unburnt tobacco
