Portrait: What makes the Cyril Laudet 1991 Laballe Bas-Armagnac Journal des Kirsch N. 4.

French spirits tell Stories of traditional craftsmanship and strict quality standards, of vineyards passed down through generations, own sugar cane plantations and authentic bottlings from small producers. Inspired by the adventure stories of the historical “Journal des romans populaires illustrés”, this story tells about the experiences that Cognac, Armagnac, Calvados and Rhum have to offer: excitement, surprise, variety and delight.

With outstanding single casks the potential of distilled delicacies from France and the French overseas departments is made public. Page four of the Journal des Kirsch is now filled with an exceptional Armagnac.

The Cyril Laudet 1991 Laballe Bas-Armagnac comes from a wine-growing pearl >: the Domaine de Laballe. Around the small community of Parleboscq, the Laudet owning family cultivates a rare terroir in the Bas-Armagnac growing region.

“Les Sables Fauves” >gives the house's Armagnacs unmistakable freshness and minerality. In addition to bright fruit and subtle hints of limestone, the tropical accent of this 32-year-old Bas-Armagnac was therefore a real one Surprise.

During an on-site visit in August 2023, the single cask was discovered and secured for the German market.

If you get hold of one of the 136 bottles you will be presented with the full splendor of what is normally only found in older cognacs: exotic notes of passion fruit and fresh mango.
