Portrait: What makes the Metropolis - The Extinct Blends Quartet - Compass Box special.

Trends change and recipes follow them. Blended whiskies from the 1970s, '80s and '90s are very different from today's versions, even if the brand name remains the same. With the Extinct Blends Quartet Compass Box reinterprets four of the most popular blended Scotches from bygone times, drawing on some of its rarest and most original whisky stocks.

For Ultramarine Compass Box took inspiration from the antique sherry and pipe tobacco notes of an iconic, luxurious blended Scotch first released in the late 1980s market came. It is based, among other things, on mature malts from the Caol Ila and Glendullan distilleries.

Delos resurrects the lively Compass Box Blend Asyla. Old and rare whisky components from the distilleries Glen Elgin, Imperial, Miltonduff and Cameronbridge contribute to the experience of exotic fruits and soft vanilla.

For this Third release in the series - Metropolis - Compass Box travels through the urban success story of whisky blending. Because: The origins of Scottish blended whiskies lie in lively metropolises.

Metropolis is therefore the appropriate name for the new limited edition.

It combines notes of shortbread and honey from Aberlour and Miltonduff with an oily character and dried fruits from sherry casks and creamy - Lively grain notes with metallic, smoky hints of Bowmore and thus traces the diverse life in the city.
