Portrait: what makes the Mac-Talla Pedro Ximénez Feis Ile 2023 so special.
The Feis Ile festival is celebrated every year on the Scottish whiskey island of Islay .
On this occasion, the independent bottler Morrison Scotch Whiskey Distillers, which is closely associated with the island, bottled this limited edition.
A total of 26 butts and hogsheads were selected, most of which previously contained the dark Spanish sherry Pedro Ximénez.
The barrels were married to each other and filled in time for the festival.
Tasting Notes: This is what the Mac-Talla Pedro Ximénez Feis Ile 2023 tastes like
- Nose: Lots of smoke and sea - distinct aromas of wet ropes and burnt toffee, plus campfire smoke and seaweed - over all sweet cooked pears, dried dates and raisins
- Palate: an elegant one at the beginning Sweet, then ripe berries and clearly the Pedro Ximénez sherry - above all smoke and turbulent sea
- Finish: long, intense finish with lots of smoke and fruit - dates, pears and red ones Berries are present
