Founded in 1825, Edradour had changing owners - from the New York mafia to Andrew Symington, the brains behind Signatory Vintage. Production has hardly changed: Edradour works largely as in the 19th century, including with original equipment. Long a legend among single malt fans, the Highland distillery bottles its most peaty single malts under the Ballechin brand, distilled from malt with at least 50ppm phenolic content.
The Ballechin 18 Year old is one of the oldest bottlings of the brand for Rauch fans. Extensively matured in traditional bourbon barrels, it marries peat smoke with oak spice and strikes a delicious balance with malt candies, exotic fruits and warm caramel.

Tasting Notes: This is how the Ballechin 18 Year old Cask Strength Edition Batch #001 tastes
- Nose: more intense Peat smoke and spicy oak, behind it strong malty aromas and ripe exotic fruits
- Palate: complex and round with clear notes of peat and malt, then fruits again, especially papaya and mango, paired with caramel and butterscotch
- Finish: long finish with lots of peat and oak - the fruits and caramel are accompanied by barley malt
