Portrait: what makes Lochlea Cask Strength Batch #1 so special.
The family-run grain-to-glass distillery ” Lochlea launches their first Cask Strength Single Malt. The whiskey is part of a new series of annual special releases from the Scottish Lowlands farm distillery Laphroaig Distillery Manager and his team carefully composed and bottled at cask strength 60.1% ABV. Matured in first fill bourbon casks and Oloroso sherry casks, the Lochlea Cask Strength is characterized by fruit, nut and cereal aromas that are part of the Lochlea's signature style.
One of only a few distilleries in Scotland, Lochlea uses exclusively home-grown barley, distilling and aging its whiskey on-site. The "farm distillery" guarantees complete traceability from the field to the bottle.
The result: authentic single malts, characterized by the barley of their region and the dedication with which the small team produced.
