And what is more enduring than the sky above our heads, whether blue or gray? Two new small-batch series are now looking heavenward. 

The Horsemen, the four horsemen of the apocalypse, and the Archangels, the archangel quartet, deliver their prophecy with powerful imagery: cask-sized delights.  

For this, the bottlings draw on the almost biblical wood treasure of Signatory Vintage.

The Caol Ila is the first rider to announce 10 years 2012/2022 Horseman No. 1 marks the start of the Horseman series.  

Darkly illustrated by Tom Thiel, whose art is immortalized on the CD covers of the melodic death metal band "Amon Amarth" or the Vikings series, and of course darkly matured.  

The peaty islander was bottled after 10 years of maturing from a sherry butt and two bourbon hogsheads.

Tasting Notes: This is what the Caol Ila 10 Year Old 2012/2022 Horseman No. 1 tastes like.

• Nose: strong campfire smoke and dried fruits such as plums, raisins and dates, plus sweet vanilla, traces of coffee and light spice
• Palate: first dark grapes, preserved apples and some figs - followed by roasted notes of nuts and unburnt tobacco
• Finish: English wine gums and smoke linger on the palate for a long time , followed by a dry seasoning with liquorice, aniseed and nutmeg
