Portrait: What made the GlenAllachie 2012/2022 Cuvée Cask Finish.

Cuvée - that's French and comes from the world of winemakers.

Derived from the word "cuve" for barrel or tank, it describes the marriage of different wines that are bottled under one label become.  

Winemakers combine the characteristics and aromas of certain wine-growing regions or grape varieties into a delicious balance.  

The procedure requires great sensitivity in both wine and whisky production.

A case for Billy Walker.

His blending experience has grown over 50 years -Art has already been demonstrated by Billy Walker several times in the form of whisky cuvées exclusively for Germany.

The living legend has now selected and combined barrels and barriques for the first official The GlenAllachie Cuvée Cask Finish 2012/2022.

The single malt first matured in former bourbon barrels.
For the refinement, Billy Walker used various barrique barrels made of European oak, some from the famous regions of Languedoc and Valpolicella, some from Premier Cru Classé castles in Bordeaux.
Artfully blended, the limited release offers elegant stone fruit on the palate, notes of roasted almonds and zesty orange peel.

Tasting Notes: This is how the GlenAllachie 2012/2022 Cuvée Cask Finish tastes

  • Nose: powers Aromas of orange blossom, espresso, maraschino cherries and honeysuckle, plus candied stone fruit, hazelnuts, lavender and cinnamon
  • Palate: Clear notes of dark chocolate, ripe red currants and roasted coffee beans, behind it are roasted almonds, sweet blackberries and orange zest
  • Finish: long finish - again the almonds and blackberries, accompanied by spicy tones of ginger and liquorice
