Secure whisky rarity: Speymalt from Macallan Distillery
Legally active since 1824, 36 stills, a production volume of at least 15 million liters and a distillery building that blends into the landscape as naturally as the hills of the Highlands: Macallan is one of Scotland's most famous whisky distilleries.
Independent bottlings of their beautifully complex distillates are rare, rarer still are those bottled under the distillery's name.
These can still be found - irregularly regular intervals at the traditional bottler Gordon & MacPhail.
The new single cask rarity matured for around two decades in oak cask No. 1756, which was prefilled with sherry.
The Macallan 2000/2021 Speymalt Sherry Cask #1756 is an exemplary single malt for demanding sherry fans.
Neither chill-filtered nor colored, unfolded he at cask strength 56.4%vol. Alcohol content Noble aromas of fruit cake with toffee and nectarine, which transition to raspberries, morello cherries and wild berries on the palate.
The full-bodied, long finish is characterized by marzipan and spices.
