David Lloyd George (1863-1945) was a social reformer, a symbol of the Welsh revival and produced more headlines than any other early 20th century statesman.
Although he himself was a "Teetotaler" (abstainer) he made an important contribution to the quality assurance of the modern whisky industry.
"Alcohol does more damage in war than all German U-boats combined," said Lloyd George.
Therefore, he tries everything possible to make the consumption of alcohol more difficult.
His most important achievement was to achieve in 1915 in the so-called "Immature Spirits Act" that whiskey had to mature in barrels for at least three years and one day in order to be allowed to be sold.
This is known to hold true to this day, and is perhaps the rule that most sets whisky apart from almost all other spirits.
The Icons of Wales No. 9 was made with a powerful 46%vol. bottled at alcohol level and finished in Jamaica Rum and Ruby Port casks.

Palate: Rich sweet notes of dried fruit, salted caramel, floral, then honey and a spicy kick of black pepper alternate with a light tannin dryness
