Product information "Kopke 2005 Colheita 20%vol. 0,75l"

Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.

The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.

The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.

At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.

The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.

A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.

The port wine is then bottled.

The Kopke 2005 Colheita has an intense brown color with reddish reflections.

Nose: exuberant nose with aromas of red fruits with hints of wood and subtle spice aromas

Palate: in the mouth it is rich and balanced, with round tannins coupled with the smoothness of fruit that give the wine the unique character of a Colheita

Finish: a long and delicate finish

Served chilled, it unfolds all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts with caramel, dried fruits and spices, such as caramel fudge with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-firm cheese.

Best served at a temperature between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.
