Product information "Kopke 1965 Colheita"

Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.

The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.

The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.

At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.

The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.

A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.

The port wine is then bottled

The Kopke 1965 Colheita has a vivid amber color.

Nose: Impressive aromas of dried fruits and liqueur

Palate: very nicely balanced on the palate, with smoothness and good structure - seductive and appealing freshness

Finish: an elegant and persistent finish

Served chilled, it unfolds all its finesse and sophistication, especially when drunk with desserts with caramel, dried fruits and spices, such as caramel fudge with apple and ginger jelly, tarte tatin, crème brûlée and medium-firm cheese.

Best served at a temperature between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.
