Smogen is the epitome of a micro distillery.
The one-man-and-a-dog operation only produces 115 liters of spirits per production day.
Made from peat malt with a typical alcohol content of 71%vol. distilled, the "New Make" matures entirely on site in Hunnebostrand, Sweden and is bottled exclusively as malt whisky.
The general rule for Smogen whiskies is: They are powerful, strong wines with a clear smoky note, maritime hints and malty sweetness.
The latest bottling is no exception.
The Smogen 8 Years - Pedro Ximénez Hogsheads is the 2022 version of the malt whiskies aged for eight years.
Distilled from heavily peated smoked malt of the Optic variety, the Swede matures exclusively in hogsheads that were pre-filled with sweet Pedro Ximénez sherry.
