Traigh Bhan (gal. "singing beach") is a 19-year-old limited bottling from Islay distillery Ardbeg.
Matured in ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso Sherry casks, Batch No. TB/04-07.03.2003/22.CG bottled in 2022 in a limited Edition.
In September of 2022 the Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 year old returns for the 4th batch of Traigh Bhan.
Bottled in small batches year after year, this exquisite single malt whisky is inspired by the beautiful beaches of Traigh Bhan (pronounced Trai-Wan), known locally as the 'Singing Beaches' on Islay.
The untamed Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 years matured in exBourbon and exOlorosso sherry casks.
With a higher proportion of ex-Oloroso sherry casks, the 2022 bottling again subtly differs from its predecessors, with aromas of chocolate and raisins and a pronounced menthol character.
Flavor profile isn't the only thing that changes from year to year.
Each batch of Ardbeg Traigh Bhan 19 Year Old carries its own batch number, batch symbol and the signature of a well-known face at the distillery, making the bottling a collector's item.
Nose: Aromas of herbs, pine and fennel seed, giving way to bold flavors of lime sorbet and throat lozenges, while eucalyptus and saddle soap follow - with a splash of water, hazelnut, sweet vanilla and currant are evident - all over with plenty of mint chocolate
Palate: intense notes of wood smoke and some dark chocolate and ground coffee - then sweet notes of lemon cream and peanut brittle follow - in the background raisins, toffee and hazelnut, just as present are menthol, lemongrass, aniseed, cloves and white pepper with lots of peat smoke
Finish: Long, strong and intense finish with a pleasant sweetness, plus peat smoke with creamy vanilla toffee, dark cocoa and a warm, woody note of cloves
