50 Years Billy Walker - The GlenAllachie 16 y.o. Present Edition celebrates the living legend
His journey into the world of whisky began in 1972.
As a chemist, Billy Walker had the ideal basis for an in-depth understanding of the spirit.
He worked for well-known international brands for 30 years before finally setting his reputation in stone as the mastermind behind the revival and phenomenal success of several distilleries.
Now Billy Walker is celebrating half a century in the industry - as one of the most important whisky personalities of his generation.
To mark this extraordinary milestone, The GlenAllachie presents the 50th Anniversary Trilogy.
The anniversary series focuses on three areas of Walker's expertise: sherry maturation, cask management and distillation.
"The GlenAllachie 16 Year old Present Edition" represents the past of the industry legend, in which Billy Walker demonstrates his skills with unusual, sometimes exotic types of casks.
The second anniversary edition therefore matured 100% in Mizunara Virgin Oak Casks.
Walker personally selected the Mizunara Virgin Oak casks from Japan - and used them to create a single malt whisky full of intense spicy notes, dark chocolate and nuts.

Nose: Aromas of dark chocolate, heather honey and toasted almonds, delicate dried fruit, followed by sandalwood, ginger and orange peel, light hints of caramelized pecans and coconut flakes
Palate: heather honey again, plus cinnamon and caramelized ginger fig syrup, followed by Demerara sugar, dried dark berries, hazelnuts and fig syrup
