The Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers are true pioneers.
Since the founding of their distillery, whisky has been distilled legally on the wildly beautiful Hebridean island for the first time.
And: Your Isle of Raasay Single Malt matures in a Cask combination that is new for Scotland.
"Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") is what the island distillers call their unique whisky recipe - and are now presenting six single cask bottlings.
It combines peated and unpeated spirits from the distillery.
Both raw spirits mature separately on Raasay's coast in three types of casks: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks.
In the Na Sia Single Cask series, the unmistakable aromas of each of these six casks come into their own.
The Raasay Peated Bordeaux Red Wine Cask #18/665 and the Raasay Unpeated Bordeaux Red Wine Cask #18/249 mature in red colored, high-quality Bordeaux red wine barrels fresh from the "Châteaus" in southwest France.
They develop lush notes of dark fruits and dried fruits, which combine harmoniously with wood smoke or maritime influences.
