The Isle of Raasay Hebridean Distillers are true pioneers.
Since the founding of their distillery, whisky has been distilled legally on the wildly beautiful Hebridean island for the first time.
And: Your Isle of Raasay Single Malt matures in a Cask combination that is new for Scotland.
"Na Sia" (Gaelic for "the six") is what the island distillers call their unique whisky recipe - and are now presenting six single cask bottlings.
It combines peated and unpeated spirits from the distillery.
Both raw spirits mature separately on Raasay's coast in three types of casks: First Fill Rye Whiskey Casks, Virgin Chinkapin Oak Casks and First Fill Bordeaux Red Wine Casks.
In the Na Sia Single Cask series, the unmistakable aromas of each of these six casks come into their own.
The Raasay Peated First Fill Rye Whiskey Cask 18/629 and the Raasay Unpeated First Fill Rye Whiskey Cask 19/245 mature in rye whiskey casks from the Woodford Reserve Distillery in Kentucky, where 53% rye is used in the mash.
They develop exciting pepper, sweet spice and butterscotch notes in the Raasay Single Malt.
