The Pusser's Deptford Dockyard Reserve 2022 is limited - the bottles individually numbered, filled in the typical "Navy Strength" with 54.5%vol. alcohol content.
It is bottled at a Navy Strength of 54.5% ABV.
Pusser's Deptford Dockyard Reserve 2022 is a blended rum made from barrel-aged rum qualities from Caribbean countries such as Demerara (Guyana), Trinidad, Barbados and Jamaica, all of which belonged to the British Empire at the time.

The "Empire Rum" has a long tradition in the old British seafaring, the rum suppliers of the British Navy sourced their barrels from all over the Empire, married them and let the blended rum mature for at least two years.
The supply for the British Navy was gigantic - the Navy held up to 250,000 gallons of rum at its peak.

Pusser's Deptford Dockyard Reserve 2022 is named after the British Navy's naval base, which operated on the Thames between the 16th and 19th centuries.
A large part of the British rum reserve was also stored here, which was distributed to the ships of the British Navy here.

The treasurer or purser - known as the purser (from the "purser" became the "pusser" in everyday usage) - was responsible for storing the daily rum ration on board.

Because the rum was stored on board with the gunpowder, the rum had to have a high alcohol content - the rum had to be "overproof".
To test this, rum was added to a small amount of gunpowder and checked to see if the gunpowder still ignited.
If the mixture ignited, the rum was "At Proof" - if it did not ignite, the outraged sailors had the right to throw the "purser" (or "pusser" overboard for having "watered down" their rum.

By the way: it was not until July 31, 1970 that the British Navy ended the daily issue of der Rum ration - the day went down in history as "Black Tot Day".
