The southernmost distillery in Scotland is Bladnoch - with this 30-year-old single malt whisky, Bladnoch presents their oldest bottling to date.
With 30 years of maturation, in ex-Oloroso sherry and Moscatel sherry casks, this single malt still comes from the previous owners of the distillery, who closed Bladnoch in 1993 and finally sold it (Bladnoch only went under new owners eight years later in operation - but only until 2009, after which it will again fall asleep for eight years).
Stocks of casks from before 1993 are extremely low and the 30-year-old Bladnoch is indeed a very rare bottling.
The first batch, the "2022 Release", is limited to 950 bottles and was bottled at cask strength with an alcohol content of only 45.5%.
Nose: dried apricots, floral aromas and spicy nutmeg - above all juicy Seville oranges
Palate: Almonds and marzipan - plus the Seville oranges again
Finish: light and floral with fruity tones and ground black pepper

The leather-covered wooden box, which together with the bottle weighs more than three kilograms, is certainly appropriate for the special feature.
