Founded in 1798, Blair Athol is one of Scotland's oldest legal distilleries.
The distillery is located in the quaint town of Pitlochry in picturesque Perthshire.
One of the key ingredients in the famous Bell's Blend, Blair Athol is revered for its fruity flavor and smooth finish.
Worth knowing about the distillery
Blair Athol's ancient source of water is the Allt Dour - 'the otter's stream' in Gaelic - which flows through the grounds from the slopes of Ben Vrackie. closed in 1932.
Blair Athol was rescued by Arthur Bell and Sons during the Depression.
One of the most visited distilleries, aided by its location just off the A9 with travelers driving north from Edinburgh.
Nose: Spicy aromas of nutmeg, plus intensive tones of custard and nuts - then aromas of coconut and toffee, brown cane sugar and some liquorice follow
Palate: creamy and soft with notes of vanilla and cane sugar - slightly juicy tones paired with spicy notes of pepper and cinnamon, plus baked red apples with cream - bananas, oranges and limes in the background - slightly smoky
Finish: wonderfully long finish with tones of ginger and toasted oak, creamy hints of waffles and chocolate - slightly spicy
