Perhaps Scotland's best-known independent bottler, Gordon & MacPhail have had one goal for more than 125 years: to produce single malt Scotch whisky of exceptional quality.
Family-owned for four generations, the company has since combined its own casks with spirits from over 100 Scottish distilleries.
The selected whiskys remain in the casks for up to 80 years before Gordon & MacPhail release their connoisseur bottlings in various collections.
Whiskys from the Connoisseurs Choice series appear in small, limited editions, with 46%vol. or at cask strength and partly with a wood finish.
The latter is the case for the Glendullan 12 year old 2009/2022.
97% of the Dufftown distillery's single malt flows into blends.
Gordon & MacPhail matured the light, fruity distillate in refill exBourbon barrels and perfected the single malt whisky for another three years in exCôte Rôtie casks.
The wines from the small but prestigious wine-growing region on the slopes of the right bank of the Rhône have intense aromas ranging from blackberries to cocoa.
The Glendullan is also characterized by berries, which are deliciously combined with liquorice, violets and peanuts.
Nose: intense aromas of dried strawberries and roasted peanuts - behind them violets
Palate: fruity notes of fresh raspberry compote, followed by light tones of liquorice and ripe red apples
Finish: medium-length finish with hints of citrus fruits and red berries
