Kopke 1957 Colheita

Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.
The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.
The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.
At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.

The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.
A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.
The port wine is then bottled.

The Kopke 1957 Colheita is amber in color with bright golden reflections.

Nose: Complex and delicate on the nose, it shows resinous with well-combined aromas of almonds, honey and candied orange peel
Palate: sweet, elegant and balanced on the palate, nicely wrapped with hints of caramel
Finish: a long and persistent finish

The Kopke 1957 Colheita goes perfectly with walnut and almond cake.
