Kopke is the oldest port wine house - every wine in this house tells a story.
The grapes for Kopkes Colheitas are harvested and destemmed by hand at the optimum time, then pressed and processed.
The wine is carefully macerated to extract the colour, tannins and aromas, which are enhanced by constant stirring during fermentation - this is done in barrels (lagares) at a controlled temperature between 28-30 degrees Celsius until the desired level of sweetness (baumé) is reached is.
At this point pomace brandy is then added to make the final fortified wine.
The result is a high quality wine made from a single harvest.
A Colheita wine ages in oak barrels, never less than seven years.
The port wine is then bottled.
The Kopke 1985 Colheita has a vivid amber color.
Nose: rich and elegant on the nose, with predominant aromas of dried fruits, well wrapped by subtle notes of vanilla and chocolate
Palate: an intense and full-bodied wine, but still delicate and well-structured
Finish: a deep, delicious and persistent finish
Ideal with walnut and almond cakes.
It is best to serve the Kopke 1985 Colheita at a temperature between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius.
