Jamaica meets Jerez: Navy Island Rum with Pedro Ximénez Sherry Finish
Navy Island is a blend of selected Jamaican rum qualities from the Distilleries Worthy Park, Monymusk and Hampden Estate.
They all have one thing in common: They produce their rum in traditional Jamaican stills, do not add sugar and produce in small batches.
The rum qualities that are married for Navy Island are also typically Jamaican in taste: with a high ester content, particularly aromatic and full-bodied.
The XO Reserve is Navy Island's flagship - a full-bodied, strong cuvée that matured extra long (XO = Extra Old) in bourbon barrels under tropical conditions.
For even more intense rum enjoyment, the Jamaicans finished their Navy Island XO Reserve in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Casks.
The Limited Edition 2022 spent at least six months additional maturation in the sweet wine barrels from Jerez.
The result: more complexity and rich, dark aromas of dried fruit.
