Linkwood has a strong cult following and is highly sought after by whisky enthusiasts.
The single malt whisky is considered a noble malt, produced in one of the oldest distilleries in the region.
The distillery was then established in the open field but is now part of the expanding town of Elgin.
It is located on a reservoir in a beautiful landscape.

The malt can offer the odd surprise, like aniseed and smokiness, but tends to be complex, with sweet and sour notes and some pleasant fruity and grassy notes.

Worth knowing about the distillery
The distillery used to grow its own barley and have cows that were fed the distillery's spent - and non-alcoholic - grain.
Linkwood was released as three different 26-year-old single malts, each aged 14 years in ex-rum, red wine or port casks.
The whisky features prominently in Johnnie Walker's blends and has also been bottled as a single malt whisky in Diageo's Flora & Fauna range.

Nose: Barley sugar, yellow fruits, apples and bananas, then aromas of apricots and peaches follow, along with fresh lime peel and ripe plums - with a little water ripe melons, guava and allspice
Palate: Sweet, ripe fruit paired with mint, lemons, cinnamon and green tea - behind it lemon cake and dried pineapple
Finish: medium-length finish with notes of light grapes, kiwi and cinnamon - followed by apple peel and an elegant freshness
