At Daftmill Farm everything revolves around growing malting barley, raising beef cattle, potatoes, carrots and broccoli.
Since 2018, however, the Cuthbert family's business from Fife in the Scottish Lowlands has been firmly on the whiskey map of the world: After more than 12 years of waiting, Daftmill brought its first single malt whisky onto the market.
The Cuthberts produce their Scotch in very small quantities, sometimes no more than 100 barrels a year, exclusively from their own barley.
Burning takes place in the low season (June and July as well as in winter), when there is no need to plant potatoes or sow barley.
