"Lang may yer lum reek" (Gaelic "long may your chimney smoke") - the Scottish saying is a greeting for a long life.
The origin of this peated blended malt whisky is found in Harvey MacNair, on an autumn evening after a lake fishing day in the 1860s, distiller Harvey Mac Nair indulged in a dram whisky in the local pub, The Old Stone Bothy, near the distillery GlenAllachie.
The chimney of the house did not move properly and so the room filled with smoke, which would have been an occasion for anyone else to leave the house, was for Harvey MacNair - and especially for his whiskey - just right - the whisky tasted him much better now!
Today's Master Distiller Billy Walker of Glen Allachie has re-created this highly peated whisky - but with a little more caution and science than Harvey MacNair over a hundred years ago.

Contemporary in design, with a metallic finish and eye-catching potential: this is the new MacNair's range.

In the summer of 2021, the brand known for its award-winning, smoky blended malt whiskys experienced a revival as the home of premium small-batch bottlings.

Masterfully supervised by whiskey luminary Billy Walker, they mature in selected, innovative casks and flow into the elegant, heavy bottles without being chill-filtered or colored.

In March 2022, the first bottling at cask strength will be available.

For his Lum Reek Blended Malt Scotch Whisky 10 Years, Billy Walker marries vintage single malts from the Highlands, Speyside and the Isle of Islay with aged GlenAllachie single malt.

The result: harmony of peat and fruit.

The Blended Malt Scotch matures in high-quality Spanish sherry casks, wine barriques and virgin oak casks, which refine its peat-smoky and rich, fruity character.

The full aroma unfolds at a natural cask strength of 55.4%vol. alcohol content.

Nose: clear smoke, followed by heather honey and ginger, followed by cinnamon, syrup and vanilla

Palate: Lush notes of dark chocolate paired with ginger and citrus, followed by smoked spices, plantains and tannins
