Another unique top rum that was made in Panama according to old recipes handed down from Guatemala and with the highest level of craftsmanship.
For the distillation in 1991 in the column still, only the finest sugar cane juice and the purest yeast were used.
This exquisite rum matured for at least 30 years in American ex-Bourbon barrels at an altitude of 2,000 meters in the mountains of Panama.
Due to the low oxygen content at this altitude, the distillate was able to develop its unique taste slowly and gently.
It shines in an intense amber color with beautiful ruby red reflections.
On the nose it is very intense and delicate, with warm notes of dried fruit (including apricots, dates and plums), marzipan, hot spices, damp grass and toasted wood.
On the palate initially soft, warm and with pleasantly fresh notes that soften the wood tones, just perfectly balanced.
A pleasant concentration of alcohol slowly sets in, followed by fruity tones and slightly sweet perceptions, well balanced by the woody and fresh acidity.
Its finish is pleasantly harmonious and wonderfully balanced.
This Malteco Selección Rum 1991 is an elegant, old vintage rum (bottled in 2021) - an absolute must for rum lovers who appreciate this complexity.
