Maturation in the distillery, barrel storage in Europe, both in combination: matured rum is sometimes so diverse because, in addition to the barrel type, the climatic conditions in particular have an effect on its development.
With the Scheer Velier Main Rum Range, rum fans have the chance to make a direct comparison between purely tropical and purely continental rums.
Behind the experiment are the Italian bottler Velier under the direction of the passionate rum pioneer Luca Gargano and the well-known Dutch broker E.A. Scheer, in whose approximately 300-year history this is the first collaboration.
The extraordinary series consists of four Jamaican pot still rums from the traditional Monymusk Distillery, two of which are tropical and two of which are continental.
MMW Wedderburn 11 Years Old are blended rums from two casks distilled in 2007 and 2008.
The two EMB Plummer 14 year old rums were married from casks that were filled in 2002, 2004 and 2006.
For better differentiation, there are red (tropical maturation) and blue labels (continental maturation) - but anyone who has the rum qualities in the glass will also recognize the difference: in ester content, aroma and alcohol content.
