Making whisky in its most original form - that was what Edradour made a legend among Scotch fans years ago.
Up until a few years ago, it was one of the few distilleries in Scotland that produced its single malt exclusively in the old farm buildings, sometimes with equipment that was more than 100 years old.
And that are otherwise rarely used in whiskey making.
That has not changed even after the expansion to include Edradour II, which was completed in 2018.
The Highland distillery consolidates its favorite status with exclusive vintage bottlings.
Their hallmarks: a finish in (strong) wine barrels.
This 22-year-old single malt whisky found its way to butts after eight years of initial maturation in American white oak, which previously contained Oloroso sherry.
Two of the Casks resulted in this naturally dark filling with a lush taste profile.
Nose: sugared almonds, toffee, raisins and nutmeg from the Oloroso Butt
Taste: complex, intense and mouth-filling - again the raisins and almonds - clearly the sherry influence - there are also subtle notes of coconut, apple and vanilla
Finish: very long, warm finish
