Making whisky in its most original form - that is what Edradour has among Scotch fans Made a legend years ago. Up until a few years ago, it was one of the few distilleries in Scotland that produced its single malt exclusively in the old farm buildings, sometimes with equipment that was more than 100 years old. And which are otherwise rarely used in whisky making. That has not changed even after the expansion to include Edradour II, which was completed in 2018.
The Highland distillery consolidates its favorite status with exclusive vintage bottlings. Their hallmarks: a finish in (strong) wine barrels.
This 22-year-old single malt whisky matured for 13 years in former bourbon barrels before it was decanted in Barolo Hogsheads. In the with Italy's most famous wine pre-filled Casks, the fruity-spicy single malt was allowed to mature another 97 months.
Nose: fruity aromas of ripe berries - especially currants, raspberries and cranberries
Taste: full-bodied, with notes of red currant jam, maple syrup and cranberries - with a little water clearly spicy cinnamon apples and cloves Finish: the long and sweet finish ends with sweet almond puree
