Stubble fields under the autumn sun, colorful foliage, a touch of fruity spice in the air - sensory impressions that the Speyside single malt skillfully revives.
For the Autumn Edition 2021, the independent bottler Signatory chose a Glen Elgin from 2008.
There the Scotch matured in oak Casks for a total of 13 years, including a finish in a former Sherry Butt filled for the first time.
The Speysider from one of the rather unknown distilleries in Scotland owes its extremely strong amber tone to the Andalusian Cask influence.
And: a full-bodied aroma.
The "Wormtub Condenser" certainly also contributes to this. As one of only a few distilleries left, Glen Elgin works with the traditional cooling system, which makes the raw spirit heavier and fuller.
Nose: roasted nuts combined with dark berries and malty aromas and fudge in the background
Taste: red-fruity notes of strawberries and sweet cherries - then becoming a little more exotic with peach and honeydew melon
Finish: various fruits followed by light wood notes, some milk chocolate and a hint of espresso
