It is one of the few independent, family-run distilleries in Scotland: Glenfarclas is already located in the sixth generation in the expert hands of the Grant family.
For over 150 years the distillery, embedded in the rough landscape of the Highlands (the location corresponds to the current definition of the Speyside whisky region), has stood for uncompromisingly high quality - and traditionally leaves the hearts of fans of Whiskys matured in Sherry Casks beat faster worldwide.

The reason: For the Highland Single Malts from Glenfarclas, the finest Sherry Casks from renowned Andalusian bodegas are used almost exclusively.

This exclusive bottling also enjoyed pure sherry maturation.
The Glenfarclas Single Malt whisky was inactive for around ten years Casks that previously contained the dry, at the same time smooth and often nutty Oloroso Sherry.
Single Malt Whisky unfolds its complex taste panorama at a strong 60.2%vol. Alcohol content in cask strength.

Nose: clearly the sherry, with soft aromas of plums and dates, slightly nutty aromas in the background
Taste: mouth-filling and soft in the taste with intense notes of ripe dark fruits, with dried figs and prunes, raisins and red forest fruits - then becoming more nutty with a slightly spicy note
Finish: long and soft finish - very harmonious and balanced - fruits, nuts and spices are elegantly coordinated
