IRISH WHISKEY OF THE YEAR 2022 - Gold Medal Winner at ISW (International Spirits Competition) 2022

It is the ultimate goal of whisky visionary Mark Reynier - now it has been achieved.
With "The Cuvée", Reynier's progressive Waterford distillery is marrying 25 of its unique single farm origin whiskys from various terroirs in Southern Ireland into a multi-layered, in-depth taste experience - the ultimate single malt whisky from Waterford's point of view.

How come? Mark Reynier explains:
"As I come from the wine industry, I have always been fascinated by how the best Bordeaux wines are made. Instead of bundling their grapes into a single wine, winemakers take the trouble to produce several individual wines, each of which is their own Terroir expresses a certain character. Only after months of maturation are these individual wines - each with their individual profile - combined into a single, profound and complex wine, the Grand Vin. Why not do the same with whisky? This is the vision, an that we worked for seven years. The essence of the Waterford Project. "
 
The milestone whisky is correspondingly complex.
Matured in French and American oak, the nose combines aromas from red apples to coffee cake, oily caresses the palate with grapefruit, dark chocolate or muesli and has an exceptionally long lingering effect.
To celebrate their "lodestar" (English guiding star) cuvée, Waterford brought in the artist Leah Hewson for the design of the label.

Nose: The scent of red apples, bread crust, green leaves, biscuits, oranges, fresh mint and coffee cake
Taste: extremely oily and structured with grapefruit, lemon peel, dark chocolate, cherries, muesli and jam
