Gordon & MacPhail have stood for exclusive Scotch rarities for over 120 years.
Once a small delicatessen shop, the family business is now one of the international experts in the maturation of special Scotch Whiskys.
The selected distillates from renowned Scottish distilleries remain in the Casks for up to 80 years before Gordon & MacPhail publish their enthusiast bottlings in various collections.
One of these series is the Connoisseurs Choice!
Whiskys in this range are characterized by low numbers and high demand from Single Malt fans.
Since the start of the series in 1968, the mostly very limited bottlings have generally flowed at 46%vol. or in Cask strength and sometimes with a Wood Finish in the bottles.
The latter applies to the new bottling from one of the lesser-known distilleries in the Scottish Speyside - Glen Spey.
The light Single Malt was allowed to mature for a total of 12 years, three of them in Casks from the Côte-Rôtie.
The small but famous wine-growing region produces powerful, multi-layered red wines.
Their influence is evident in the intense berry notes, which make this Glen Spey the ideal Summer Whisky!
Nose: ripe strawberries in combination with vanilla and rose petals
Taste: again the strawberries and vanilla, now with sweet raspberries and ripe oranges - above all, light notes of roasted oak
Finish: the finish is medium-bodied with lingering tones of ripe summer berries
Distilled: 2009
Bottled: April 19, 2021
Batch: 21/051
Outturn: 3,500 bottles
