The manufacturer of this Aquavit Triple Cask is Kimerud Farm, founded in 1785 in Norway.
Kimerud owes a great deal to the Norwegian geography, the temperature and the traditions of the Vikings.
The cold climate in Norway, which slows down the growth of herbs and thus creates an intense abundance, is mainly responsible for the high quality of Kimerud products.
Only botanicals that were popular in the Viking Age - as food and for medicinal purposes - are used on Kimerud Farm.
The Kimerud Master Distiller dedicated this aquavit to his grandfather , Herold Havaldsen, a miner in the Norwegian mountains, who was honored for his service in WWII on naval ships, then as a prisoner of war and freedom fighter.
The aquavit matured in three different barrels: sherry, Madeira, un d fine French oak barrels, which gave it its unique taste.
This is the first "Triple Cask Aquavit" made in Norway.
Håvaldsen Aquavit Triple Cask contains botanicals such as caraway, coriander and angelica , Mint, ginger, orange and lemon peel, similar botanicals that are also used for the Kimerud gin.
Nose: Aquavit Triple Cask offers caraway seeds, wood aromas from the barrels and fresh orange notes
Taste: complex on the palate with a balance of intense oak notes, citrus fruits and caraway seeds
Finish: an aquavit full of character, fine and long in the finish, which is ideal as an aperitif or digestif
