Cuvée - that is French and actually comes from the world of winemaking.
Derived from the word "cuve" for Cask or tank, it describes the marriage of different wines that are bottled under one label.
Why? The procedure enables winemakers to combine the properties and aromas of certain wine-growing regions or grape varieties into a delicious balance.
A procedure that requires great sensitivity - in both wine and whisky production.
For the sensitive selection and combination of the Casks for GlenAllachie's new Sherry & Rioja Cuvée Cask Finish is exactly the right thing for barrel talent Billy Walker.
The single malt whisky, bottled exclusively for Germany, first matured in American oak Casks.
For an additional, aromatic maturation process, Billy Walker carefully selected Casks from Spain's famous wine region filled with Rioja - and finally married the single malt whisky with Speyside whisky, which was matured in intense sherry casks.
The result: a varied single malt cuvée with extensive taste components of dark chocolate to pineapple.
The Casks pre-filled with red wine give the whiskey in a light mahogany tone complexity and silky tannins.
The sherry Casks, on the other hand, ensure soft sweetness and create depth.
