Master Distiller Billy Walker has gained almost 50 years of experience in the whisky world.
With the White Heather 21 years, the expert has taken his first steps in the industry as a blender and last year launched the GlenAllachie Distillers Company, their very first blended Scotch whisky.
Now the small batch blend is available again.
White Heather was acquired by GlenAllachie Distillers Company in 2017 together with GlenAllachie Distillery and MacNair's Lum Reek.
The industry icon Billy Walker put her own stamp on the brand, which was discontinued in the 1980s - and raised the taste level through clever wood management.
Single malt and grain whiskys from the Highlands, Speyside and the whiskey island of Islay mature in a combination for 18 years from American first-fill Casks, sherry Butts as well as second-fill Casks and Hogsheads.
Blended whisky is matured in Walker's GlenAllachie Distillery with an unusually high proportion of single malt, including vintage GlenAllachie another three years in a mix of Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry Puncheons and Appalachian Virgin Oak.
The result harmoniously balances the gentle peat of the Islay part, the archetypal Speyside fruit notes, the heather honey-like sweetness of the Highlands and a full-bodied base from the grain components.
Nose: nice, soft background with heather honey, butterscotch, peat smell and a hint of tannins
Palate: full-bodied notes of heather honey, butterscotch, orange peel and soft tannins, with a wonderful presence of peat and smoke
