The family-run Foursquare distillery in Barbados has been producing rum since 1926 and is synonymous with authentic, unadulterated taste experiences.
In the fourth generation, Master Distiller Richard Seale successfully continues the rich tradition - since 2016 also in cooperation with Luca Gargano, head of Velier and one of the great driving forces in the rum world.
The collaboration between the two rum experts is now bearing delicious fruit for the seventh time, with sassafras. As a single blended rum, it comes from a single distillery and, as is characteristic of Foursquare, is a blended rum made from rums distilled in copper stills and columns.
In the traditional pot still, heavier distillates are created, while the distillation process in the classic two-column coffey still results in lighter rum.
The versatile blended rum matured in an intensely tropical way for 14 years - initially for three years in bourbon barrels, before being transferred to the cognac barrels, which are rarely used at Foursquare, for a further eleven years.

The result: a complex rum for advanced connoisseurs that also delivers on the palate what the mahogany promises.
Sassafras (named after a tree whose leaves and bark have been used as a condiment and medicine for centuries) shows pronounced dark notes of fine wood, pepper and roasted coffee beans.
The Bajan rum was bottled with a strong 61% vol. Cask Strength in only 6,000 bottles worldwide.
