Edradour, the legendary favorite distillery of many Whisky enthusiasts, fills under the name Ballechin from their peatiest Single Malt Whiskys.
Distilled from malt with at least 50ppm smoke content and matured in very different types of casks, the smoky Highland Whiskys have a variety of taste profiles to offer.
The German importer for Edradour now has a few Barrels of the Hercynian Distilling Co., which produce the popular Elsburn Scotland's "Little Gem" sent to fill these pre-filled Casks with the Highland Malt.

The Casks are Firkins - this type of Cask is known in the brewing industry, but it is encountered during Whisky maturation lten an.
The small Firkins, which have a capacity of only 60-80 liters, promise intensive contact with the wood.

The Ballechin, which has matured for a total of ten years, benefited from this in a one-year ElsBurn-Firkin finish who knows Hercynian Single Malts, knows what that means: Strong smoke combines with relish with intense fruit and dry fruit aromas, the peat friends at 57.8%vol. enjoying Cask Strength to the full.
