In the western regions of Panama there is a place called Cerro Brujo, what means witch hill.
It is believed that in the highest part of this hill there is a cave where all kinds of potions and voodoo practices took place.
This saga inspired the making of El Brujo, which is in the design the bottle and gift box clearly reflects.
El Brujo combines the best of Panama with a sophisticated selection of rums of various styles and delivers an interesting mix of French know-how and Panamanian rum-making tradition.
In the dry season in Panama (from December to April) freshly squeezed sugar cane juice is fermented and distilled before the distillate is bottled in ex-Bourbon barrels for storage.
During the maturation period of eight years, the distillates are blended together, followed by a finish of six Months in exPedro Ximenez sherry casks follows.
This gives the blended rum sweet and subtle smoke aromas with a hint of red fruits and a soft and unique character.
Nose: initially dry, with a A hint of flowers and straw, then heavier, richer aromas of vanilla and caramel - in the background a hint of sherry barrel
Taste: complex, spirited and multi-layered with initially warm notes of toffee and caramel, followed by floral notes of vanilla and apple blossom and ending with earthy notes of leather - the texture is rich in dry red fruits and a delicate hint of aged dessert wine on the tongue
Finish: creamy, soft and smooth - just a perfect example of Panama's unique rum style!
