With the tenth bottling of Signatory's Small Batch series, there is a small anniversary coming up - a little gem has been selected for this.
"Scotland’s Little Gem" Edradour distilled the single malt whisky for the exclusive bottling for the German market in the very smoky branch of the Highland distillery - so under the name Ballechin.
The whisky was allowed to rest in a Cask Selection that the German importer made together with Signatory.
At least three Casks are always used - for the Signatory Small Batch Edition #10 it was two First Fill exSherry Butts and two First Fill exBourbon Barrels, in which fruit and peat smoke entered into an enjoyable liaison.
Just in time for the tenth anniversary, the new edition was fully developed after ten years.
Time enough for the limited single malt whiskey to help yourself from the Casks.

This results in a strong amber tone as well as the complex aroma of the smoky filling with slightly increased drinking strength.
Smoking fans can look forward to a whisky that combines the most deliciously glowing coal and warm caramel, rich berry notes and sweet BBQ flavors as well as roasted bacon and steaming toast.

Nose: strong smoke, glowing coal and sweet sherry fruits, plus warm caramel and the smell of a freshly opened packet of ground coffee - above all warm almonds and powdered sugar
Taste: directly sherry in the form of dark grapes and wild berry jam with raspberries and currants - as soon as the sherry notes slowly fade, tones of sweet BBQ smoke follow
Finish: only a slight sweetness, paired with roasted bacon cubes - towards the end, wood notes that become more obvious, some toffee and warm toast
