The Ben Nevis distillery brought this traditional single malt whisky according to a popular original recipe 2011 on the market - at that time as a limited single cask edition with individual bottle numbers.
The bottling should look as similar as possible to an original bottle from 1882.
Since the bottling was sold out quickly, it was decided to buy it in to include the core range.

In 2020 Ben Nevis gave the Traditional Peated Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky a new design to better integrate the whisky into the Distillery portfolio.
For this purpose, the spelling of "McDonald" was changed to "MacDonald" - this is how the descendants of "Long John" and D.P. McDonald, the two men who made Ben Nevis famous, write the name today.
